About the Development Liaison Service

The City of Paducah is interested in the success of your new business and wants to partner with you to help navigate through the process. The Development Liaison Service focuses on all development customers (residential and commercial). If you choose to participate in this free service, you will work with our Development Liaison who will assist by serving as your primary point of contact with the City throughout the life of your project. In addition to being your primary point of contact, the Development Liaison serves to assist you in understanding the City’s requirements, which will enable you to submit complete applications and avoid possible delays. Our Development Liaison has expertise in the areas of planning, zoning, permitting, building code, and inspections and works closely with all City staff involved in the development process. Participation in this service is completely voluntary, and you can opt in at any point in your project.

Look to the Development Liaison as your local Project Coordinator, Information Provider, Problem Solver, Facilitator of Communication, and Supporter for Economic Development.

Certificate of Occupancy Celebrations

As part of our Development Liaison Service the City of Paducah is offering Certificate of Occupancy Celebrations for those businesses that would like us to join them in celebrating the completion of their project. Why celebrate a Certificate of Occupancy (CO)? A CO is issued by the Paducah Fire Prevention Division and is one of the final steps in opening a building after all construction is finished. The Certificate of Occupancy certifies that the work done complies with building codes and the building is suitable for occupancy.

Beginning in May 2025, this free service will be available to anyone receiving a Certificate of Occupancy for new construction or existing vacant building renovation of 50% or more. Contact our Development Liaison to see if your project qualifies and to schedule the event. The City is grateful for your investment in our community and is excited to see your vision come to reality. These celebrations can be as simple as delivering your Certificate of Occupancy in person or as celebratory as balloons, cake, and photos.
