Date of release: May 8, 2020
At next Tuesday’s meeting of the Paducah Board of Commissioners, the public will have an opportunity to comment on items on the agenda. Due to the COVID-19 situation, the past three meetings have been held virtually without public comments.
Paducah Mayor Brandi Harless said, “We have been working internally on a process to provide a public comment section at our regularly scheduled Commission meetings which will continue to be held virtually for a while longer.”
“Comments from our citizens about items on the agenda add value to our work as elected officials. Resuming this opportunity for our community to participate is an important priority for our Commissioners during this time,” added Harless.
To make comments concerning an item on the agenda, members of the public need to complete the Public Comment Card located at http://paducahky.gov/2020-city-commission and return it to the City Clerk’s Office no later than 3:30 p.m. the day of the scheduled Commission Meeting. The form can be emailed to City Clerk Lindsay Parish at lparishpaducahky.gov or placed in the secure drop box located near the front doors of City Hall at 300 South 5th Street. To arrange to pick up a copy of the form, call the Customer Experience Department at 270-444-8800.
Regarding the public comment process at a virtual Commission meeting, these requirements will be followed:
- Incomplete Public Comment Cards will not be accepted.
- Public Comment Cards received after the 3:30 p.m. deadline will not be accepted.
- Members of the public who have submitted a completed Public Comment Card will be sent a link and/or dial-in number to join the meeting either by virtual teleconference or by phone.
- Members of the public need to be logged in or dialed in to the meeting no later than 5:15 p.m. on the day of the meeting. At 5:30 p.m., the meeting will be locked with no additional attendees permitted to join.
